| I forgot my devotional back in San Francisco!! argh! It’s really good, and it’s called, “A Godward Life” by John Piper. John Piper is a pastor of a church in Minniapolis, MN, and he speaks for seminars and such (as well as at OneDay 2000, where I got to hear him speak on Boasting Only in the Cross). Anyways, he has a lot of really interesting views on living our Christian lives, and some real paradigm shifts. One of which is this:
God is most glorified in us, when we are most satisfied in Him. I can’t go into much detail into that, but just thinking about that idea gives me goosebumps! It’s really true that God is glorified in us, when we satisfied living out His purpose for us here on earth. If we’re doing what He’s telling us, He’s the one getting all the glory for it! and it’s great! =) I almost bought an Avalon u5 over the weekend. Saw one on ebay for about 375$, and I kept bidding with a person till I reached 400$, and I quit. The person got the Avalon u5 for 405$, ahhh well. Maybe next time. =) The CD project is going well. I have to try and keep on schedule though, which only leaves this last week to do all the guitar recording *sigh* Don’t know how that’s all gonna get done….but I can atleast try. If I’m not talking to you people all that much this week, that’s the reason why. I’m enjoying my Chet Atkins. I don’t use my Taylor as much as I’d like to anymore, but it’s still a really nice guitar. Think I’ll spend some nice time with it, as we bond and make some beautiful music together for this recording. =) I’m also starting to work in the Music Dept over at Berean. I was recently moved (well today will be my first day officiall in the music dept). This happened because one of the other people there is retiring. She’s worked there for 27 years or something like that, and that she’s just old now and can’t stand up on her feet all day. So I’m being moved over there from books. I was getting to know the book department really well too. Oh well, I think I like music a lot more anyways. =) Thinking about buying one of these Franklin Electronic Ebookman from work. We get it at a discount, so it would come out to about 150$ for the 16MB one. Info is at www.franklin.com/ebookman/ Unfortunately, it doesn’t support Palm OS software, so I wouldn’t be able to get all the cool games and such…but it does have the basic PDA features (datebook, address book, to do notes), as well as some new features, like a voice recorder, or the ability to play mp3s on it (though it only has 16MBs of ram! what’s with that! haha). Anyways, I’ll look into that…wish there was a web site that had PDA reviews or something. current mood: working |
The First New Entry of the New Year

| Why Hello there. I’m going to try to be posting a lil more this year. Hopefully through it all people will get to know my personality a little better and get to know me, in this weird internet world. Now I’m not really sure of how to do that, I guess just sharing with life experiences and showing my opinion on those kinda things. Well I’ll try to do better in this online journal thing in this year. Lesse how it goes.
The past few weeks have been busy busy busy. I’m currently back and forth between San Francisco and San Jose working and hanging out with church friends. School starts up again Jan 23rd, so it’s not too far away. I also have to start working more on the cd project, which I want to be done by April (let’s see how that goes…have to stick to the schedule….doh!). I got to talk with Victor from Hope Road, a band from the East Coast about recording (see previous story about a Chet Atkins one member had, hah). Anyways, was just talking with him and he gave me some insights on doing the recording stuff (like the layers, drums should go after guitars, or sometimes first (but dunno how plausible that is right now)). But recording this semester should be really fun. I did some mock vocals the other night, and they worked out really well. It should be very exciting to see the songs grow and come out on a cd in a few months. |

| Well the recording is nicely on it’s way. I did the guitar tracks for “Our Love is Loud” though it’s not one of the original songs I picked, I do really like the song, and may include it with this AACF CD (if it doesn’t go on there, it definately will go on my own cd, hehehe). I figured out the chords a few nights ago when 722 did it in it’s entirety for their Christmas service.
722’s Christmas service was awesome! my goodness. Never heard Christmas carols sound so good!!! really! If you haven’t listened to it yet, browse by www.722.net and click on the Past Messages. Click on the last one for this “season”. I bought a web cam two nights ago. It’s not on a lot, unless I’m on yahoo messenger. I don’t really like yahoo messenger, except that it can use a web cam, so I’m hoping that AOL will get their acts together and make something where you can use a web cam sorta how yahoo has it. Maybe they’ll someday browse upon this page and read about it. =) current mood: accomplished |

!
| Hehe, yes the news is, that I bought the Chet Atkins SST model guitar. I bought it actually the week of Thanksgiving, that tuesday before hand I believe. It ends up that it was the same day that I recieved my Taylor last year (It was shipped to my parents house the tuesday before thanksgiving last year).
I’ve been playing with it a lot, and I really like it. It has SUPERB tone, almost bettering the Taylor (course I’ll always love my Taylor, it’s my second baby, hah, guess what (or rather who’s) first ; ) ). Anyways, yes, it’s a very nice guitar, and I’ve used it a few times now for worship already, and I really enjoy using it. Though I better keep switching between the Taylor and the Chet, because when I was playing the Taylor the other night, it felt funny to play such a large bodied guitar, since the Chet is really thin. Met some new friends online recently. I was searching for Chet Atkins SST reviews on the net, and I happened upon a guy’s webpage that bought one for a cd recording he was working on (sounds like me, hah). I continued reading about the cd recording, cuz, pretty much, that’s what I’m doing right now. It ends up that he was doing a worship recording with some friends (hah, sounds like me again). Anyways, I’ve been talking to him (Wei) and his friend and drummer (Victor) for their ‘band’ Hope Road. Now on to the exciting news. I’ve collaborated with myself, and the new release date for our AACF cd, will be Monday, April 1st, 2002. We’re finally heading into the production stage of things soon (within a week or two) and I’ll be recording all the guitar tracks, then we’ll work in the vocals, then bass, electric, drums, and percussion, and also maybe a lil piano, but it may be sparse, haha. I’m a guitar kinda guy. =) So yes, be on the look out of the newest AACF@SJSU CD coming out Spring 2002! current mood: excited |
Episode VI: Return of the SST

| Heh, sorry, I had to do a lil Star Wars spoof there. Today in my endeavors, I was on a mission to try and find a shock mount that would fit my new condensor mic that Lisa got me for my birthday a few weeks ago. I didn’t find one, and boy, the people there in the Pro-Audio section of Guitar Center are pretty dumb, I’m sorry to say… Anyways, I traveled over to the acoustic guitar section and noticed they still had that Chet Atkins SST model I raved about long time ago, hrm, but I just checked it out, and maybe I didn’t write about it. Anyways, I checked out the guitar originally back in July, and I liked it, but thought it would be sold off before I would ever get enough money for it. Well it just so happens that they still have the guitar, and the guy is willing to let it go for 800$ with the case. I’ll be doing some praying and seeing if I want to get it. If I do get it, I’m gonna sell off my Takamine. I think I can get about 350-400$ for my old takamine, since it’s still in pretty good shape (except in that one spot *sniff* where I cried for my guitar after my guitar case fell on that one part, argh). Anyways, I’ll definately be looking into it, and I am working now, so it’s a big possibility. Today, AACF had our thanksgiving potluck over at Michelle Shih’s house. I actually missed when they all left, cuz I was shopping, but I mad it just in time for us to pray for the food. The food was great, and more and more just kept coming as more and more people came in. We had about 30 people come out, so it was a very good turn out. Work is going great. They work me hard, but hey, it’s what I get paid for (though I don’t get paid much, ahh well). Maybe I’ll be promoted to a supervisor soon, but who knows, it’s all in God’s hands. That’s about it for this update, I’ll see ya on the flip side. hah. current mood: accomplished |
Work Work Work, oh, and a Birthday thrown in

Worked for my 3rd day today. (Third Day? hehe, they’re new album comes out in November, mark your calendars!) The first day I was put in cashering, 2nd was customer service, and today I did all recieving (where they get all the packages, and products, and sticker them and put them out). Not really sure which one I like best….probably customer service, or cashering. Each one of the days I got to see less and less customers, which I guess wasn’t that great, hah. But work so far seems pretty cool. I enjoy it a lot and the people who work there are great! Fun people, and we joke around with each other a lot, but don’t put one another down, just have fun with each other. =) Good enviroment definately!
Hrm, so for my birthday today, we’re gonna go out to Red Robins a little later. Not sure how later that is. Supposedly my sweetheart, Lisa, is coming down, but I’m not sure if she really is, cuz they only have one car!! Well, I will really enjoy it if she does, hehe, even though she did just come out with my family to a birthday dinner for me. Oh, I forgot to talk about that too. But anyways, the list for tonight is Lisa, Derek, Anh, Erica, and Ali. Maybe some other people I’m unaware of as well. =P The more the merrier right?
So anyways, I went out with my family for my birthday dinner on Sunday Night, We had GRUBBBBBBBBBB!!!! Went to the House of Prime Rib (My all time favorite restuarant). Lisa was really scared to go, and have dinner with my parents and my brother. It was quite funny, and entertaining as I tired to calm her down. After the night she said it wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be. She also got to meet my brother, Eric, and she said he looked nothing like me, which I guess is a good thing, cuz I’m much better looking than my brother. =P haha. So anyways, I ordered the regular HoPR Cut, and man, it was sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo gooooooood!! I had seconds too as they came around, and I could have really gone for thirds as well. Got a picture at the end with my family and Lisa at HoPR, and it’s so cute. hah. I should frame it and keep it on my desk, ahhhh. Anyways, that was the interesting part of the weekend.

Interview with Berean

Well off I go for an interview with Berean Christian Bookstores. I applied last Thursday, and wow, what a quick time for them to have me come in already. Awesome stuff.
Lisa drove down yesterday to drop off some dress clothes for me, isn’t she sweet? She brought buy some pants, a shirt, and my shoes (hah, she bought 2/3rds of those!). I decided this morning that the khaki’s looked better with this gunmetal black shirt of mine, so I’m wearing those. I should have got some lighter color shirt…this kinda dark grey thing doesn’t work too well, or well, I guess I’ll impress them much. Wish I had an iron too, hahaha. oh well.
I’ll tell everyone how it goes later. =) My first (really) job interview, hah, amazing!

Yesterday we had an old SJSU student, Jason Ma, as our speaker. He’s featured weekly on The Bridge’s talk radio show called SOUL on Sunday Mornings. He speaks mostly to high school students, but spoke really well and held attention great to us college students. He spoke of God the Father, and delivered a very good message about the misconceptions we have about God as our Father. Anyways, very good message, and hopefully we’ll have Jason around sometime again soon. Good speaker. =)

Lil Update

Well doing a semi-montly update (well like a bi-weekly I guess, that means once every two weeks). We had a beach bash on Saturday with AACF. It was over at Seabright beach in Santa Cruz. Had some fun, played some beach volleyball, ate some GRUBBIN’ food, did some worship. About 15 people were there, including Lisa, who I brought along for the fun. The day was pretty good, except when I sprained my index finger on my left hand, and when Lisa forgot her purse in one of the drivers cars.
Well the sprained finger kinda stinks. I can’t play guitar right now (I tried about 20 minutes ago, it doesn’t sound great, blah). I can’t bend my finger all the way, so pretty much I can type a lil (with a lil pain), and play playstation, wheeee. No guitar, no lifting weights, blah. I’m supposed to play guitar this next sunday (was supposed to this last sunday too), and leading the next two sundays after this one. Hopefully my finger will be better by then, pray for me! I hope it’s not broken or anything, i feel sharp pains along the sides of it, but I can still bend it, with not too much pain, so hopefully it’s just swollen and sprained.
Well I came back from SF today, a short trip to drop off Lisa’s purse. She forgot it in Eric’s car on saturday, and we tried to call Eric on Saturday, but he didn’t answer (his phone was off), so he dropped it off on sunday, and I went up today to drop it off. We hung out for a lil bit, ate at Marie Calendars (where they didn’t have any potpies!!! grrr!! blah), and shopped at Meryven’s for a present for Tiff, and a replacement thingy for Evelyn. That’s about it for this short couple of days. =)
