Cool quote from Dead Man Walking

I’ve heard that there are two situations that make interesting stories:
When a extraordinary person is plunged into the commonplace and when an ordinary person gets involved in extraordinary events.

When I read that in the begining part of the book, it reminded me of stuff Pastor Kevin says, haha. Anyways, isn’t that an amazing thought? I know not many of us (including me) are extraordinary people put into the commonplace, but that most of us who know God and serve Him, are commonfolks who get to do extraordinary things with God. I think back to myself doing Worship, and having this gift that I have to play music, and sing, and lead others to God. It’s really cool. Anyways, yeah, that was my latest thought. =)

Whooooooo, Tabbed two songs tonight in my joy of wanting new worship music!

Hah, when I was at work, I was talking with a Pastor from a somewhat new church down here in Palo Alto about worship, and about new songs and such (he’s looking for whatever stuff is really new, but I couldn’t offer too too much, He did end up buying Shane Barnard, Matt Redman, and Darrell Evans upon my suggestions though =) ). Anyways, that just spurred me tonight to go figure out some new songs. I originally posted on the Shane Barnard Project for someone to tab out that song “Take Me Away” by Lifehouse. I broke down and did it myself, but I did that song by David Crowder first. It doesn’t really have a title, but the chorus goes “O Praise Him” so that’s just what we’ve been calling it. I hope it appears on an album soon (maybe OneDay03?). Anyways, I have a rough cut of it from Thad’s FTP server, and it sounds great, so yeah. I figured out those two today.

Monsters hide in my closet in hiding waiting to “Take Me Away”

Well today was an interesting day. After class I ran out to CompUSA and Target, because of the great deals I saw in thisSunday’s newspapers. Well anyways, at CompUSA I picked up two compact flash cards. Got the 64 meg ones, hopefully that’ll be enough for my camera that will come either this week or next. I can’t wait for that!! whoooooo. Should be really fun taking a lot of pictures and what not, wheeee. Anyways, went out to Target afterwards to get the new Lifehouse album, “Stanley Climbfall” and John Mayer’s previously released independent cd. The Lifehouse one was 8.99, and the John Mayer one was 6.99, but they didn’t receive their shipment of the John Mayer one yet, boooo. Anyways, also when I was there, I saw their selection of Christian Music/Gospel. It was pretty good, didn’t have everything, but had the more popular cds (Mary Mary, the WoW cds, Amy Grant, Mercy Me, and some others, pretty much just Word Ent. cds, didn’t see any Chordant ones now that I think about it). The big thing about them was that they were CHEAP!! Like Mercy Me was just 12.99, and the “I Could Sing of Your Love Forever” ones were 14.99 and 15.99 for a 2 CD set, crazy cheap.

Also while I was there I saw Monster’s Inc. At first glace, I thought the video version was the DVD, and it was 15.99. Then I saw the DVD (which is a lil big thinner as a package, and that’s about it), and it was just 16.99. I previously talking to a guy at CompUSA with his kids, who said he just bought it at CircuitCity or something for 19.99, so I figured that was a good deal, AND Target gives a free 8.oz bag of Mini-Oreos to ya for free with Monster’s Inc. Cool eh? I just realized today how much I enjoy Oreos….yum…
They brought back nice childhood memories of eating them with Milk. Then I remembered that not so funny “Got Milk?” commercial where Harvey comes up with the name of the cookies, Oreo. Anyways…yeah…getting side tracked, hehe.

Anyways, just listening to the new Lifehouse cd now, and I think I found a new song I can use for worship. It’s a lil hard again, like the song Everything can only be used sometimes, but atleast I think I can use the whole song. Here goes the lyrics.

This time all I want is You
There is no one else who can take Your place
This time You burned me Your eyes
You see past all the lies
You take it all away

I’ve seen it all and it’s never enough
It keeps leaving me needing You

Take me away
Take me away
I’ve got nothing left to say
Just take me away

I try to make my way to You
But still I feel so lost
I don’t know what else I can do

I’ve seen it all and it’s never enough
It keeps me needing You

Take me away
Take me away
I’ve got nothing left to say
Just take me away

Dont’ give up on me yet
Don’t forget who I am
I know I’m not there yet
But dont’ let me stay here alone

This time all I want is You
There is no one else who can take Your place
This time You burned me with Your eyes
You see past all the lies
You take it all away

I’ve seen it all and it’s never enough
It keeps me needing You

Take me away
Take me away
I’ve got nothing left to say
Just take me away

Last Night’s AACF

Wow, it went really well. Worship that is. I usually don’t always think so highly of when I lead worship, but I really enjoyed it yesterday. I felt like it was really loud though, hahaha. Oh well, it makes it easier to hear myself I guess. We did a lot of songs yesterday, but it was fun, and I think people enjoyed it as well. I even saw some people raise their hands! Amazing!! Considering we don’t really “teach” that with AACF (though, with my own background it’s common, I’m sure in a lot of other churches that AACF people come from, it’s not, hehe).

The slide thing we pretty neat. It went by pretty fast, but it was touching, though I couldn’t really see all the slides since I was playing. I just played that song “Jesus Lover of My Soul (It’s all About You)” throughout it. I’m thinking it’s almost time to record that, as I can play it pretty good now, hehehe, without fumbling, whoo!

Nate’s video was really really good! Except that the background music kinda stuff was really loud, so we couldn’t really hear the people who they interviewed, ahh well. Haha, Nate, if you read this, do you want to do a video for my church’s new college ministry? They wanted to do a “Interview on the Street” kinda thing. It sounds kinda easy, but yeah, no one at our church has a DV cam, haha.

Small groups was also cool. I was in a group with Eachan, Ray, Eric, Joel, Dorothy, and Violet. It’s been so long since I’ve seen Violet, so it was so good to see her! We just talked about how the events of Sept. 11th have affected our faith (if it has).

Afterwards, we were hanging out at the house, and I wrote some checks for Anthony. One is for a Digital-Camera, I’m getting that Canon Powershot G1!!! whoooo!! The other is for Arnie, the staffer at San Francisco State’s AACF. I roomed with him in Atlanta for a conference held by Passion, and I haven’t been able to see him since then, boooo. And that was back in April. =( Sorry Arnie! Also at the house we hung out with James Quen (this year’s worship coordinator), and his friend Matt from SLO’s AACF. They both play counter-strike, so we just hung out and ate, and watched Michael Jeong playing, haha. Just kinda bonding, was fun.
